Bo Rangers moved a step closer to retaining their Leone Rock Premier League crown on Sunday after edging rivals Star Sport Academy 2–1 in a tense encounter at the Southern Arena.
The victory extends Bo Rangers’ lead at the top of the table to seven points, further strengthening their position in the title race.
The hosts made a strong start, taking the lead in the 11th minute through a composed finish from forward Mohamadu Lamin. Backed by an energetic home crowd, Bo Rangers controlled large spells of the first half, with their goalkeeper producing key saves to deny Star Sport Academy an early response.
Star Sport Academy, however, grew into the game and pushed relentlessly for an equaliser as the match wore on. Their efforts were finally rewarded in the 82nd minute when Abdulai Aruna Sannoh struck home to level the score, setting up a tense finish and briefly threatening to secure a repeat of the 1–1 draw from the first leg.
Just as the contest appeared destined for another stalemate, Bo Rangers delivered a decisive late blow. Substitute Abu Komeh emerged as the hero, scoring a stoppage-time winner that sent the Southern Arena into celebration. His match-winning strike earned him Man of the Match honours.
The result sees Bo Rangers firmly in control of the league standings with 53 points from 26 matches, while Star Sport Academy remain second with 46 points. With eight matches left in the season, the champions hold a strong psychological and mathematical advantage in the title race.
Although Star Sport Academy still have opportunities to close the gap, momentum is now clearly with Bo Rangers as the season approaches its decisive stage.
