The leadership of the Ministry of Health, led by Minister Dr. Austin Demby, on Friday, 10 April 2026, inspected the ongoing construction of a 100-bed hospital in Moyamba District to assess progress and ensure it meets modern healthcare standards.
The inspection team, which included senior health officials, engineers from Uplink Construction, and Paramount Chief Foday Momoh Ngulama, toured key sections of the facility such as the maternity ward, surgical units, theatre rooms, ICU, and other service areas.

During the visit, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mustapha Sundifu Kabba provided technical recommendations, including improvements to corridors and doorways to accommodate modern medical equipment and improve patient flow.
Paramount Chief Ngulama welcomed the project and praised the deployment of young doctors to Moyamba Government Hospital, while calling for expansion of private ward facilities to meet growing demand.
Minister Demby stated that the existing Moyamba Government Hospital will continue to serve the district, while the new facility will operate as a specialized and teaching hospital for the Southern Region, supporting advanced care and medical training.
The project manager from Uplink Construction assured the Ministry that all recommendations would be implemented and confirmed plans to complete the project by October.
The project is part of government efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure and improve access to quality medical services across Sierra Leone.
