Week in, week out, various institutions are working hard to support President Bio, the Chairman of ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government and we are seeing the results! We have hosted several ECOWAS meetings flawlessly and introduced thousands of people to Sierra Leone’s hospitality.
In the upcoming week, we are hosting all Chief Justices from ECOWAS and the Ministers of Health in their own summits. We recently had the Chiefs of Defense Staff and the Ministers of Information and Communication. Seamless.
But all this will peak withthe High-Level Heads of State Summit to be Hosted and Chaired by H.E President Bio. Prior to that, we will also commission the ECOWAS Logistics Depot situated in Lungi. In preparation of the SUMMIT in July, the government and private sector partners are investing in new conferencing and hotel facilities in Feeetown (Bintumani) and Lungi (with credible partners like Hilton). We are also investing in making sea travel better by bringing new ferries to augment what’s available now. Other infrastructure investments include nearly 50MW solar energy plants and more. These investments will make Sierra Leone a premier conference country in the sub region – a vision of His Excellency.
Already, we can see the impacts on the economy. Over 1,500 jobs have been created as part of these efforts (formal and contract) and dozens of service providers and SMEs are being supported. But there is more to do.
My job is to lead on such a coordination under the visionary directive of President Bio. We have lots of people already volunteering to support this process and I thank them. My appeal is to you, the ordinary Sierra Leone is simple.
I want you to own this process. I want you to be proud of Sierra Leone. 65 years of Independence. 41 years after hosting the OAU. We are not where we want to be but we are on the right track. We have plenty to celebrate and much more to do. My belief is simple- together #WeWillDeliver on making Sierra Leone a middle-income country by 2039.
