The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr William Fayia Sellu, has urged police recruits undergoing training at the Advanced Public Order Training School (APOTS) in Samu, Kambia District, to uphold discipline, commitment, and professionalism.
During his visit on Thursday, 14th May 2026, the IGP stressed that discipline is the foundation of effective policing and reminded recruits that policing is a full-time professional career that requires sacrifice and dedication.
He noted that out of over 15,000 applicants, only a small number were selected, encouraging the recruits to remain focused and consider themselves privileged to undergo the training.

Mr Sellu warned against indiscipline and drug abuse, announcing a zero-tolerance policy and indicating that unannounced drug tests would be conducted within the training camp.
He also assured that the 47 Rules governing police conduct would be reviewed and aligned with modern policing standards.
The IGP further expressed plans to improve training facilities at the academy to enhance efficiency and prepare officers capable of meeting international policing standards.
