President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, launched Sierra Leone’s first-ever Women’s Football Strategy at the Freetown City Council Hall.

The four-year strategy is designed to guide the development of women’s football in the country, from grassroots participation to the international level, while creating more opportunities for women and girls in the sport.

Speaking at the launch, President Kamara described the strategy as more than a milestone, saying it represents a commitment to the future of women’s football in Sierra Leone. He emphasised the importance of working with partners and stakeholders to translate the strategy into tangible results.

The ceremony was attended by SLFA Second Vice President Prince Saquee, National Sports Authority Executive Director Mohamed Alphaka Conteh Esq., SLFA General Secretary Ing. Mohamed Benson Bawoh, Women’s Football Manager Elizabeth Kailey, and FIFA representatives Thubaelihle Bridgette Sibanda from Zimbabwe and Tsholofelo Candy Setlhoko from Botswana.

Following the launch, the SLFA, with support from FIFA, commenced a three-day Capacity-Building Workshop for Women’s Football Administrators, scheduled for October 28–30, 2026.

The workshop aims to strengthen the capacity of football administrators and support the effective implementation of the strategy, with the broader goal of building a stronger, more inclusive and sustainable future for women’s football in Sierra Leone.
