Sierra Leone, Liberia Sign Off on Stronger Anti-Graft Fight

The leadership of Sierra Leone’s Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) and Liberia’s Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cross-border cooperation in the fight against corruption

The engagement took place on Thursday, 11th June 2026, at the LACC Headquarters in Monrovia, Liberia, between Sierra Leone’s ACC Commissioner, Francis Ben Kaifala Esq., and his Liberian counterpart, Counsellor Zoe Alexandra.

Discussions focused on enhancing the implementation of an existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, which provides a framework for joint action against corruption.

The MoU facilitates collaboration in areas such as personnel exchange, joint training, technical support, and cross-border investigations aimed at tracking and prosecuting corruption cases across borders.

Speaking after the meeting, Commissioner Kaifala described the partnership as a practical tool for strengthening investigations and improving accountability in both countries.

Counsellor Zoe Alexandra, in her remarks, expressed appreciation for Sierra Leone’s support and highlighted the importance of experience-sharing in areas such as asset recovery, asset declaration, public education, and enforcement.

The engagement is part of broader regional efforts to strengthen anti-corruption institutions and promote transparency and accountability across West Africa.
