The newly appointed Executive Director of the National Sports Authority (NSA), Barrister Mohamed Alphaka Conteh, Esq., has pledged to promote discipline, professionalism, and transparency in Sierra Leone’s sports sector.
Speaking during the official handing-over ceremony at the NSA headquarters on New Signal Hill Road, he said he has been mandated to maintain decorum in the sporting sector and called for teamwork and collaboration among all stakeholders.
He expressed appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio and the Government for his appointment, and also commended outgoing Executive Director Dr. Emmanuel Saffa Abdulai for laying a strong foundation for the institution.
Barrister Conteh emphasized his vision to strengthen transparency, inclusiveness, and excellence in sports administration, while promising to create opportunities for athletes and improve sporting infrastructure across the country.
Outgoing Executive Director Dr. Abdulai highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including the development of regulatory frameworks, improved staff welfare, increased funding for competitions, and progress in sports infrastructure.
The Board Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Nyelenkeh, described the ceremony as historic, noting it marked a smooth transition of leadership within the NSA.
Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, also congratulated the new Executive Director and pledged the Ministry’s support, urging continued collaboration for the growth and development of sports in Sierra Leone.
