The Ministry of Youth Affairs hosted a high-level World Bank Implementation Support Mission for the Productive Social Safety Net and Youth Employment (PSSNYE) Project in Freetown. The mission was led by Robert S. Chase, World Bank Practice Manager for Social Protection and Jobs, and Asha Monifa Williams.

The visit aimed to review progress, strengthen coordination, and explore ways to boost the project’s impact on youth employment and empowerment across Sierra Leone. The PSSNYE Project, implemented with the National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) and other partners, provides young people and vulnerable groups with productive employment opportunities.

Minister of Youth Affairs, Ibrahim Sannoh, praised the partnership with the World Bank and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to youth development. “We are fully committed to effective implementation and transparency to ensure every youth reached under this program feels the real impact of government investment,” he said.
Mr. Chase commended Sierra Leone’s efforts, highlighting the project’s role in promoting jobs, resilience, and opportunity for young people.
The mission concluded with technical discussions on project performance, community engagement, and strategies to improve implementation efficiency. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to empowering youth as part of the government’s wider human capital development agenda.
