The Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL), led by Chief Electoral Commissioner and Chairman, Mr. Edmond Alpha, has paid a courtesy visit to Statistics Sierra Leone (Stats SL) at its temporary office in Kona Lodge, Freetown.
The visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration and promoting a productive working relationship between the two institutions, particularly in the areas of data management, electoral planning, and national development.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr. Edmond Alpha thanked Stats SL for its continued support and partnership with ECSL. He highlighted the importance of reliable statistical data in ensuring effective electoral management, including voter registration, boundary delimitation, polling station distribution, and electoral planning.

He also called for stronger cooperation through regular meetings, technical exchanges, and the review of existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between the two institutions.
Responding on behalf of Stats SL, the Statistician-General, Mr. Andrew Bob Johnny, welcomed the ECSL delegation and reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting ECSL with accurate demographic data and technical collaboration.
Mr. Johnny stressed the importance of credible statistics in promoting national development and strengthening democratic governance in Sierra Leone.
The meeting ended with both institutions reaffirming their commitment to continued partnership and cooperation.
