Bonthe-Mattru Road Due December 2026

The Director General of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), Ing. Alfred Jalil Momodu, has announced that the Bonthe–Mattru Road is expected to be completed by December 2026.

He made the disclosure during the Civic Day Festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education in Pujehun District on Tuesday, 2nd June 2026.

Speaking at the event, Ing. Momodu thanked the Ministry for creating a platform that promotes accountability, public engagement, and dialogue between government institutions and citizens.

Highlighting the Authority’s achievements, he revealed that more than 470 kilometres of roads have been completed across the country since 2018, with an additional 30 kilometres added to the national road network.

He noted that Pujehun District has benefited significantly from road development projects, with 135 kilometres of roads completed, including the Bandajuma–Liberia border road, which has improved trade and transportation.

The SLRA boss also disclosed that work on the Pujehun–Gbondapi Road is expected to commence soon.

According to Ing. Momodu, the Authority currently has 26 active road projects nationwide, including eight funded by development partners and 18 funded by the Government of Sierra Leone.

He further stated that 22 bridges have been completed across the country, including eight in Pujehun District and the Makibi Bridge.

Ing. Momodu added that the Trans-West Africa Highway linking the Guinea and Liberia borders through Sierra Leone has been fully completed, enhancing regional trade and movement.

He reaffirmed the SLRA’s commitment to providing safe, reliable, and durable road infrastructure to support national development and improve connectivity across the country.
