Bio to Hold Bilateral Talks at Nairobi Summit

Sierra Leone’s President, Julius Maada Bio, is expected to participate in the Africa Forward Summit scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 11–12 May 2026.

The high-level summit is jointly hosted by Kenya’s President William Ruto and France’s President Emmanuel Macron, bringing together African leaders, global policymakers, investors, development partners, and international financial institutions.

Discussions will focus on key priority areas including trade and investment, climate change, sustainable finance, the blue economy, digital transformation, public health, green industrialisation, and youth empowerment.

More than 1,500 participants are expected to attend, including Heads of State and Government, ministers, private sector leaders, civil society actors, and representatives of multilateral institutions.

The summit is aimed at strengthening Africa’s economic partnerships, deepening Africa–France cooperation, and advancing sustainable development across the continent.

For Sierra Leone, the engagement is expected to create opportunities to attract investment, strengthen diplomatic relations, and expand cooperation in sectors such as agriculture, infrastructure, and digital development.

On the margins of the summit, President Bio is also expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with other world leaders and development partners to discuss cooperation and investment opportunities.
