Parliament Honours Top Female Directors

The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Friday, 10 April 2026, honoured its top female Directors and Deputy Directors in recognition of their years of dedicated service and leadership within the parliamentary service.

The Clerk of Parliament, Karmoh K. Conteh, said the event was organised to celebrate senior female staff, describing them as key pillars of the institution. He encouraged them to continue playing an active role in decision-making processes and assured them of their importance in Parliament.

The Deputy Clerk of Parliament, Gilbert Bosco N’habay, noted that the celebration was aimed at providing moral support and recognising the contributions of women to parliamentary operations. He urged them to continue striving for excellence, noting that legislative institutions have historically been male-dominated.

The event, held in the Speaker’s Board Room, brought together female Directors and Deputies, other senior staff, and invited guests to celebrate women who have contributed significantly to the growth of Parliament.

Speaking on behalf of the honourees, the Director General of Parliament, Mrs. Finda Findosia Fraser, expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing the event as a surprise and a milestone in acknowledging the work of women in Parliament.

The ceremony featured the reading of acrostic poems dedicated to the female Directors and Deputy Directors in appreciation of their resilience, commitment, and service.

The event was moderated by the Director of Parliamentary and Public Relations, Sheku Lamin Turay, who highlighted the importance of women’s empowerment and commended their contribution to parliamentary service delivery.
