Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has denied allegations linking her family to Dutch drug suspect Jos Leijdekkers, who is reportedly among Europe’s most wanted criminals.

Speaking during an interview with the BBC programme The Interview, Mrs. Bio said she does not know Leijdekkers and rejected claims of any family connection to him.

“I have no idea who he is,” she said when asked about the alleged drug kingpin. When further questioned, she added: “I would not know because I am not a criminal.”

The First Lady also dismissed allegations that Leijdekkers was married to President Bio’s daughter and that they had a child together, describing the claims as false.

The issue arose following the circulation of a video from a church service attended by members of the First Family earlier this year.

Responding to questions about the footage, the First Lady explained that she regularly shares videos from public events and said she has no control over who attends such gatherings.

“I don’t bring people into church,” she stated, adding that she attended the service as an invited guest.
