President Julius Maada Bio has sworn in newly appointed Ministers and Deputy Ministers at State House in Freetown.
The ceremony was held on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, with the President urging the new officials to serve with integrity, discipline, honesty and a strong commitment to delivering results for the people.
Those sworn into office include Karefa Kargbo as Minister of Finance, Umaru Napoleon Koroma as Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security, Jeneba Bangura as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Steven Jusu as Deputy Minister of Energy II, and Foday Musa Fofana as Deputy Minister of Mines and Mineral Resources.
Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Finance Minister Karefa Kargbo thanked President Bio for the confidence placed in them and pledged to serve with humility and integrity.
He said his ministry would build on existing work, strengthen areas that are working and address remaining challenges in economic management.
President Bio congratulated the new appointees and described their responsibilities as a heavy task requiring commitment and collective effort.
He also reminded them of the importance of the oaths they had taken and urged them to honour their commitments and work towards advancing the government’s development agenda.
