The High Court in Freetown has convicted six people for their roles in the robbery and murder of Rev. Fr. Augustine Dauda Amadu, who was killed at Burma Section in Kenema on 30 August 2025.

Delivering judgment, Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens sentenced five of the convicts to 80 years imprisonment each after finding them guilty of robbery with aggravation and murder. A sixth convict received a 14-year prison sentence for knowingly purchasing a Lenovo laptop stolen during the commission of the crime.

The court ruled that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt and described the attack as a brutal and senseless act. The sentences are to run consecutively.
The convictions followed an extensive investigation by the Regional Criminal Investigations Department-East, which carried out crime scene examinations, intelligence gathering, witness interviews, and forensic analysis.

Police commended the investigative team led by the Regional Crime Officer, Detective Assistant Superintendent of Police Mohamed Hindolo Feika, for their professionalism and dedication in securing justice.

The Eastern Regional Police Command thanked members of the public who assisted with information during the investigation and encouraged continued cooperation with law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime.

The verdict brings to a close one of the region’s most widely followed criminal cases and offers some measure of justice to the family, the Catholic Church, and all those affected by the death of Rev. Fr. Augustine Dauda Amadu.
