Police in Freetown have arrested 39 pupils from several educational institutions for allegedly engaging in riotous conduct along the Zonta By-Pass Road in Brookfields.

The pupils, drawn from Collegiate School, Prince of Wales Secondary School, Albert Academy, National Pentecostal School, and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM), were arrested on Friday, 12 June 2026, between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

According to the Freetown West Regional Police Command, the students allegedly engaged in disorderly behaviour that caused fear and concern among residents in the area. All suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue.

Police noted that similar incidents involving pupils from Albert Academy and Prince of Wales Secondary School were reported last year, raising concerns about recurring acts of indiscipline among students.

Assistant Inspector General of Police, Sylvester M. N. Koroma, visited both schools and urged pupils, teachers, parents, and guardians to promote discipline and peaceful coexistence among school-going children.

He warned that any suspect found culpable following investigations would be charged to court on Monday, 15 June 2026, for riotous conduct and other related public order offences.

The police expressed hope that the action would serve as a deterrent to other students and help maintain public order in the city.
