Sierra Leone Assures ECOWAS of Readiness to Host July Summit

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Timothy Kabba, has said it was an honour, in his capacity as Chair of the Council of ECOWAS Ministers, to receive the Director of Conference and Protocol of ECOWAS and her delegation in Freetown.

The ECOWAS team is in Sierra Leone to assess the country’s preparedness to host the 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, scheduled for July in Lungi.

According to the Minister, the delegation inspected key facilities, including the conference venue currently under rapid construction and the completed ECOWAS logistics depot in Lungi.

He stated that the assessment was satisfactorily concluded, with the team expressing confidence in the level of preparedness for the upcoming summit.

The July meeting is expected to focus on key regional issues, including political stability, security, and economic integration across West Africa.

Minister Kabba reaffirmed Sierra Leone’s commitment to successfully hosting the high-level ECOWAS summit and ensuring a productive outcome for the region.
