Lawyer Martina Baindu Egbenda has officially declared her intention to contest for the presidency of the Sierra Leone Bar Association during the Association’s 2026 Annual General Meeting.

In a statement addressed to colleagues within the legal profession, Madam Egbenda said her decision to run was not driven by a desire for power, but by a commitment to restoring unity, professionalism, and the rule of law within the Bar Association.
She stressed the need for a united Bar Association that speaks with one voice, prioritizes the rule of law, promotes professionalism, and strengthens the growth of the legal profession in Sierra Leone.
Madam Egbenda described herself as a “servant leader” and called on members of the Bar to support her vision of rebuilding a stronger and more united association.
“We need a United Bar Association, because together, we are better and stronger,” she stated.
Her declaration is expected to set the stage for the upcoming Bar Association elections at the 2026 AGM.
