Two officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) are set to travel to India to pursue master’s degrees in Forensic Science as part of efforts to strengthen the Force’s investigative capabilities.

The initiative forms part of Inspector-General of Police, Mr William Fayia Sellu’s, efforts to improve professionalism, develop specialist expertise and modernise policing in Sierra Leone.
The officers received their travel tickets during a handover ceremony at the Directorate of Training, Police Headquarters, in Freetown.
Presenting the tickets, Acting Director of Training, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) John Fayiah Tumbay, encouraged the officers to demonstrate discipline, commitment and professionalism throughout their studies.

He reminded them that they would be representing Sierra Leone and the Sierra Leone Police, urging them to serve as good ambassadors for the country and the Force.
The training is expected to equip the officers with advanced skills in crime scene investigation, forensic evidence analysis and modern forensic technologies.
Upon completion of their studies, they are expected to contribute to improving scientific crime investigation, evidence management and the administration of justice in Sierra Leone.
The initiative highlights the Sierra Leone Police’s commitment to investing in human capital and specialised training to enhance effective policing and service delivery.
