The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Human Resource, AIG James Musa, has urged police recruits to uphold discipline, professionalism, and patriotism as key values in their development as officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
He made the remarks on Friday, 24 April 2026, during an engagement with recruits at the Sierra Leone Peacekeeping and Law Enforcement Academy in Hastings, Freetown.
The session forms part of the SLP’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational readiness and improve service delivery through structured training and selection processes.
AIG Musa explained that the visit was aimed at identifying recruits for the Advanced Public Order Training (APOTS) at Samu, describing the programme as essential for equipping officers with skills to manage public order and security challenges effectively.
Also addressing the recruits, ACP Joe Kamanda-Bongay, Acting Director of Training, encouraged them to maintain integrity and discipline as the police transition from a “force” to a “service.”
He noted that only the most competent candidates would be selected for advanced training, in line with efforts to enhance professionalism within the institution.
The session ended with a call for recruits to demonstrate commitment and uphold high standards of conduct as they prepare for specialized policing roles.
