Sierra Leone Health Minister Joins Regional Health Strategy Launch in Ghana

Sierra Leone’s Minister of Health, Dr. Austin Demby, participated in the high-level launch of the Regional Health, Nutrition and Population (HNP) Strategy for Western and Central Africa held in Accra, Ghana.

The World Bank-led initiative brings together 22 countries to develop a country-driven roadmap that positions health as a key driver of job creation, productivity, and economic growth.

Dr. Demby attended as a special guest of the President of Ghana and the World Bank Vice President for People, and took part in high-level discussions on strengthening health systems and human capital development.

He highlighted ongoing reforms in Sierra Leone’s health sector and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to regional collaboration and investment in healthcare.

The strategy is expected to guide participating countries in translating regional goals into national actions aimed at improving health outcomes and supporting economic transformation across Western and Central Africa.
