Parliament has approved 15 presidential nominees for key positions across various government agencies and institutions in Sierra Leone.
The approval follows the presentation of the Second Report by the Committee on Appointments and the Public Service, chaired by Majority Leader Hon. Sahr Mathew Nyuma.
The approved nominees include Justice Masiyambay Bangura as Chairman of the Legal Aid Board, Ing. Tideni Hawa Jabbi as Managing Director of SALWACO, Festus Kallay as Director General of the Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC), and Ing. Mariwan Kallon as Managing Director of Guma Valley Water Company, among others.
In Parliament, members praised the nominees for their experience and urged them to prioritize public service, transparency, and national development. Several lawmakers emphasized the importance of improving water supply and access to justice, particularly in underserved areas.
Hon. Nyuma highlighted the government’s efforts to ensure access to clean water, energy, and essential services while urging nominees to avoid politics and deliver results for Sierra Leoneans.
The nominees are expected to assume their roles and contribute to the government’s agenda for economic growth, service delivery, and institutional strengthening.
