The Parliamentary Committee on Tourism and Cultural Affairs has commended Lead Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown, for its professional service delivery, quality facilities and commitment to maintaining tourism and hospitality standards.

The commendation was made on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, during the Committee’s oversight visit to hospitality establishments in the Western Area to assess compliance with national tourism policies and regulations.
Speaking on behalf of the Committee, Acting Chairman Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara, Member of Parliament representing Port Loko District, said the visit was part of Parliament’s oversight responsibilities and aimed at identifying challenges affecting the hospitality sector and recommending appropriate policy and legislative interventions.
He praised Lead Hotel’s management for its efforts to maintain a professional environment and contribute to the development of Sierra Leone’s tourism industry.
During the visit, the hotel’s consultant, Mr. John, presented the establishment’s facilities, including accommodation, food and beverage services, suites and conference facilities. The Committee was also briefed on the hotel’s emphasis on cleanliness, customer service and professional hospitality.
Managing Director Mr. Hallen reaffirmed the hotel’s commitment to providing quality services to local and international guests, promoting Sierra Leone’s cultural heritage and investing in staff development.
Management also informed the Committee that the hotel provides employment opportunities for Sierra Leoneans and contributes to skills development within the hospitality sector.
However, the hotel highlighted challenges relating to the reliability and cost of electricity and water supply, which it said continue to affect its operations.
The Committee took note of the concerns as part of its broader engagement with hospitality businesses.
The visit forms part of the Committee’s ongoing efforts to assess compliance with tourism standards, understand industry challenges and strengthen collaboration between Parliament, government and private-sector operators to improve Sierra Leone’s tourism and hospitality industry.
