Presidential candidate for the Sierra Leone Bar Association, Martina Baindu Egbenda Esq., has continued her nationwide consultation campaign, engaging lawyers and Benchers in Kono District as part of her “Uniting the Bar” initiative ahead of the Association’s elections.
The meeting brought together legal practitioners from across the district, many of whom expressed support for her vision of promoting unity, professionalism, and inclusive leadership within the Bar Association.
Speaking during the engagement, Musa Baratay Esq., Head of Chambers at M. Baratay and Associates, raised concerns about divisions within the legal profession and endorsed Madam Egbenda’s candidacy, describing her as a leader capable of restoring confidence and cohesion within the Bar.
Madam Egbenda said her campaign is focused on building “One Bar, One Voice, One Commitment,” and pledged to ensure equal access to training, mentorship, scholarships, and professional development opportunities for lawyers across the country.
She also emphasized the need for continued legal education, justice sector reforms, and stronger collaboration among stakeholders in the legal profession. She disclosed that her manifesto will be officially launched next week, outlining her plans for reform and institutional strengthening.
Other speakers, including Bernadette Mallah Esq., Tamba Ngaujah Musa Esq., Alpha O. Kamara Esq., and Alie Emmanuel Sahr Ngaujah Esq., commended her outreach efforts and called for greater inclusiveness, unity, and support for lawyers in the provinces.
Madam Egbenda reaffirmed her commitment to an accountable and transparent Bar Association, promising to work with members nationwide to advance the interests of the legal profession.
Her visit to Kono forms part of a broader nationwide campaign that continues to attract support from legal practitioners seeking a more united and progressive Sierra Leone Bar Association.
