The Lawyers’ Society of Sierra Leone has submitted a detailed Position Paper to the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice on the proposed Land Registration Bill 2025.

The Society’s delegation, headed by President Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah Esq and Public Relations Officer Claude Bhamee Davies Esq, presented the document, which contains key recommendations aimed at strengthening the proposed legislation.
Among the major suggestions are limiting land registration and adjudication to qualified lawyers to ensure professionalism and due process, and integrating the Office of the Administrator and Registrar-General (OARG) into the new Lands Commission framework to ensure a smooth transition and preserve institutional expertise.

In the absence of the Attorney General, the Deputy Minister of Justice, Madam Saptieu Saccoh, received the document on behalf of the Ministry, alongside Solicitor General Robert Kowa and Director of Public Prosecutions Osman I. Kanu.
Madam Saccoh commended the Lawyers’ Society for its proactive engagement and assured that the recommendations would be given serious consideration in the review process.
