Lawyer Tells Members of the Bar

JFK, former Attorney General & Minister of Justice
Lawyer Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara (J.F.K.), who represents plaintiff Osman Abdal Timbo in the constitutional amendment case, has been remanded at the Pademba Road Correctional Centre until Tuesday, 14 October, after the Chief Justice Komba Kamanda found his apology inadequate.
JFK had apologised to CJ Kamanda over exchanges during Wednesday’s Supreme Court hearing on matters relating to the Constitutional Amendment Bill.
However, the Chief Justice ruled that the apology was insufficient and subsequently held him in contempt of court.
He was ordered to remove his wig and enter the dock before being remanded.
JFK was later brought back to court in what was understood to be another opportunity to offer an apology and pursue a bail application.
But, the anticipated proceedings did not take place, and he was returned to the correctional centre.
As he headed back to prison, the former Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Anti-Corruption Commission boss told members of the Bar: “Members of the Bar, I will be back.”
He is expected to remain in custody until Tuesday, 14 October, when the Supreme Court is scheduled to resume hearing cases concerning the Constitutional Amendment Bill, which was treated as having been passed in August.
