Congo Cross Police Seize 800 Wraps of Kush

Police officers from the Congo Cross Division have carried out a series of coordinated raids targeting drug dens across the Western Urban District, seizing more than 800 wraps of suspected Kush and arresting several suspects.

The operation, led by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Sahr Nyuma and Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Amadu Babah Kanu, took place between 8:40 a.m. and 3:10 p.m. as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse in the area.

At Murray Town Market, officers arrested Idrissa Kamara with 124 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Kush. The team then proceeded to the Kolo Stick Manfengbeh Community, where they demolished two makeshift structures allegedly used for selling narcotics.

Later in the day, a search operation at No. 8 Rassmusson Street, behind the Siaka Stevens Stadium, led to the arrest of Alfred Kanu and Mariama Bangura, who were found with 707 wraps of suspected Kush and additional loose quantities hidden in a plastic bag.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting with the investigation, while the seized substances have been secured as evidence.

Police say the operation is part of a broader crackdown on the illegal drug trade, aimed at protecting young people and restoring safety in local communities.
