The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) has announced 26 October 2026 as the date for its forthcoming elections.

The elections will be held at the Freetown International Conference Centre, Bintumani, Aberdeen, Freetown, starting at 3:00 p.m.
The announcement was made by the SLBA Caretaker Body in a notice dated 2 October 2026, following the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 6 August 2026, at which the newly constituted Caretaker Body, chaired by Osman Ibrahim Kanu Esq., assumed responsibility for conducting the elections.
The Caretaker Body said it is committed to ensuring that the election process is transparent, accountable, professional and orderly.
Members will elect the President, Vice President, General Secretary, Assistant Secretary General, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and Public Relations Officer.
The Annual General Meeting will also include the election of Directors of the Association, appointment of auditors and consideration of the auditors’ remuneration.
The Caretaker Body said further information on nominations, voter verification, polling arrangements and other election procedures will be communicated through the Association’s official channels.
It also urged members to cooperate with the transition and election arrangements in the interest of preserving the dignity, independence, unity and professional integrity of the legal profession.
The Association stated that only members who had paid their conference and subscription fees, with proof of payment made on or before 29 May 2026, will be eligible to vote or stand for election.
The notice was issued by the SLBA Caretaker Body, with Osman I. Kanu Esq. serving as Chairman and Menisa Sesay Esq. as Secretary.
