The Local Unit Commander (LUC) of the Mano River Union (MRU) Division, Superintendent Solomon S. Conteh, has engaged Community Safety Volunteers (CSVs) in Makpele Chiefdom, Zimmi, on discipline, accountability and community security.

The engagement took place on Wednesday, 7 October 2026, as part of Superintendent Conteh’s familiarisation visit to the area. It brought together CSVs, Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB) Chairman Jayah Konneh, chiefdom authorities, representatives of the Office of National Security (ONS) and other stakeholders.

Superintendent Conteh urged the volunteers to demonstrate discipline, commitment and professionalism in carrying out their duties. He also called for accurate record-keeping, the establishment of a comprehensive database of CSV members and regular training to improve their effectiveness.

He cautioned the volunteers against active political participation, criminal activities, drug trafficking and any form of assistance to criminal offenders.

Meanwhile, ONS Coordinator for Makpele Chiefdom, Abdulai Kallon, raised concerns over alleged unlawful activities involving some CSVs and called for improved coordination among security stakeholders.

In response, LPPB Chairman Jayah Konneh rejected the allegations against his executive as baseless. He said his executive remained active and continued to coordinate the activities of the volunteers.

Mr Konneh also stated that more than 500 CSVs had received training and commended their contribution to crime prevention within the MRU Division.

The engagement ended with a call for greater discipline, accountability and collaboration among community volunteers, traditional authorities and security stakeholders to strengthen peace and security in Makpele Chiefdom.
