A fire outbreak in the early hours of Thursday has destroyed a major classroom block at Nyapui Secondary School of Excellence.

According to a statement issued by the school administration, the fire occurred at about 1:35 a.m. and completely destroyed the old classroom block, which housed the Examinations Office, Staff Common Room, ICT Laboratory, and seven classrooms.
School authorities said the fire appeared to have started in a single classroom before spreading to the rest of the building. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
Despite the extensive damage, the school confirmed that all students are safe and remain under the care and supervision of the institution.
Following an emergency safety meeting, the school management announced the temporary suspension of normal school activities while consultations are held with relevant stakeholders on the way forward.

Parents and guardians have been asked to report to the school at 10:00 a.m. to collect their children and take them home pending further communication.
The school also stated that arrangements remain flexible for students in examination classes, including JSS 3 and SSS 3, whose parents may choose to take them home while they continue preparing for and sitting their examinations.
School authorities thanked parents and guardians for their understanding and support during what they described as a difficult period for the school community.
