The Managing Director of Guma Valley Water Company, Ing. Mariwan Kallon, has received another leadership award in recognition of his contribution to public service and institutional development.

Ing. Kallon was presented with the Outstanding Leadership Award at the African Global Stars Awards organized by Diaspora Focus. The ceremony took place on Friday, 29th May 2026, at the Bintumani Hotel in Aberdeen, Freetown.
The award comes just weeks after he received the Public Service Leadership Award at the African Ovation Awards 2026 for his efforts in improving service delivery and promoting reforms at Guma Valley Water Company.
Since assuming office in November 2025, Ing. Kallon has led several reforms aimed at improving the operations of the water utility. The reforms have focused on strengthening financial management, improving staff welfare, enhancing accountability, and increasing revenue collection.
Speaking after receiving the award, Ing. Kallon thanked the organizers and dedicated the recognition to the Board, Management, and staff of Guma Valley Water Company.
He also expressed appreciation to President Julius Maada Bio for the opportunity to serve and said the award reflected the collective efforts of the entire institution.
Ing. Kallon called on staff to remain committed to the company’s mission of providing safe, reliable, and sustainable water services to the people of the Western Area and Sierra Leone as a whole.
The dual awards received in 2026 are seen as recognition of both his leadership and the ongoing transformation efforts at Guma Valley Water Company.
