The European Union (EU) has commemorated 50 years of partnership and cooperation with Sierra Leone during a press launch hosted by the EU Delegation in Freetown.
The event celebrated five decades of EU–Sierra Leone relations from 1976 to 2026, highlighting the longstanding support provided by the EU towards the country’s development since the establishment of its Delegation in Sierra Leone.
Present at the ceremony were the EU Ambassador to Sierra Leone,, alongside ambassadors from Ireland, France, and Germany.
The Government of Sierra Leone was represented by Honourable from the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development.

Speakers at the event mentioned major achievements recorded through the partnership, particularly in infrastructure, governance, education, agriculture, the economy, and social services.
These interventions, they noted, have contributed to improving livelihoods and promoting sustainable development across Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Jankowski reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Sierra Leone in support of sustainable development and inclusive economic growth in line with the government’s national priorities.
