By Mohamed Lamin Banya

Deputy Minister of Energy I, Edmond Nonie, has visited the Pujehun substation to assess its operations and encourage staff to improve service delivery.

The visit took place on April 25 in Pujehun District, where the Deputy Minister inspected facilities at the 33/11kV substation and met with staff of the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA).

During a meeting with technicians, engineers, and commercial officers, Ing. Nonie praised their efforts but urged them to remain diligent and provide better customer service. He emphasized that residents deserve reliable electricity, quick response to faults, and respectful engagement.

He also highlighted that Pujehun is a key focus under the government’s “Power to the Provinces” initiative, with plans to upgrade distribution lines and add transformers later in 2026 to strengthen supply in the Bo-Pujehun corridor.

The substation currently serves more than 300 customers and plays an important role in powering essential services such as the district hospital, schools, and local agro-processing businesses.

The Deputy Minister noted that improvements in the energy sector are closely tied to national development goals, including support for agriculture and economic growth.
