The Deputy Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs (MoPAPA), Hon. Philip Tetema Tondoneh, had a successful consultative meeting with the Political Sector and Agencies within the Ministry to map out strategies that will enhance a peaceful and democratic political atmosphere prior to the 2028 elections.

The engagement was held in the conference room of the Ministry on 12th February, 2026. In his opening statements, the Deputy Minister emphasized the emerging issues within the political landscape in the country and requested the political sectors and agencies to establish a strategy that will mitigate the current political tensions in the country
The Deputy Minister commenced by giving a synopsis about the ministry and its sectors, their diverse roles towards achieving the mandate of the ministry, the essence of the consultative engagement, and the need to revamp the political affairs sector.
“As a government, we don’t want to be on the defensive; we want the sectors to come together and revamp the political sector,” he said.
“When political agencies within the ministry come together, there will be that synergy. As a Ministry, we embarked on this initiative in order to prepare prior to the 2028 elections,” the Deputy Minister noted.
The essence of the meeting was to coordinate all affiliated agencies of the Ministry in order to discuss and establish a strategy that will create tranquillity and a positive political atmosphere in the country prior to the elections in 2028.
Also, it is the mandate of the Ministry to coordinate all its sectors together, which will foster amicable relationships and achieve the ministry’s goals.
Representatives from the diverse Political Sectors gave salient contributions during the consultation.
Alex Pat L. Saffa from the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone (ECSL) commended the Minister for such a laudable initiative, bringing political sectors under the Ministry to strategize as a unit in terms of creating a peaceful political environment.
Francis Langumba Keili, Chief of Staff of the Office of National Security (ONS), accepted the initiative and also advised the Minister to regularly witness all the political sectors’ meetings, which will enable him to have more insights into the political environment in the country.
The representatives from the Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and other sectors requested the Minister to continuously have such consultations, which will enable the diverse sectors to plan ahead and maintain a conducive political atmosphere.
