The Vice Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission of Sierra Leone, Victor Idrissa Lansana Esq., has been invited to Geneva, Switzerland, to participate in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Pre-sessions scheduled to take place from 10 to 13 February 2026.

The Pre-sessions, organised by UPR Info, will focus on Sierra Leone’s human rights situation ahead of the country’s Universal Periodic Review slated for May 2026. An additional exchange meeting involving key stakeholders is also scheduled for 9 February 2026.
The UPR Pre-sessions provide a platform for civil society organisations and national human rights institutions to present priority human rights issues to United Nations member states prior to the formal UPR process. The initiative is organised by UPR Info, a Geneva-based non-profit organisation with ECOSOC Special Consultative Status, with support from the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs.
Mr Lansana’s participation is expected to contribute to discussions on Sierra Leone’s human rights record, drawing on his experience and knowledge of the country’s human rights environment. His engagement aims to ensure that key concerns are accurately presented and considered during the forthcoming UPR cycle.
Mr Lansana will be in the Schengen area from 7 to 16 February 2026 to attend the Pre-sessions and related meetings.
