SLP Medical Services Trains Community Health Officers Nationwide

The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) Medical Services Department held a one-day training workshop for Community Health Officers (CHOs) and Community Health Assistants (CHAs) from police hospitals across the country at the SLP Hospital in Kingtom.

The workshop covered critical medical topics including shock and accidents, diabetes and electrolyte imbalance, severe hypertension and stroke, burns, poisoning, drug overdose and addiction, Hepatitis B, and status asthmaticus.

Deputy Director and Medical Superintendent Dr. John Mumuneh Konteh explained that the training aligns with the Medical Services Department’s 2026 theme, “Knowledge Sharing and Ownership,” and is aimed at addressing gaps in patient management procedures across SLP hospitals.

Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Jalloh, Director of Medical Services, said the workshop ensures clinicians adopt standardized protocols for managing common ailments while making the best use of limited resources.

He encouraged participants to embrace continuous professional development to improve healthcare delivery within the Sierra Leone Police.
