Deputy Mines Minister, Umaru Napoleon Koroma, joined the Minister of Information and the Executive Secretary of the Peace Commission on Sunday to commemorate National Remembrance Day with amputees and war-wounded victims at the Peace Museum.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister Napoleon Koroma shared his personal experience as a survivor of the country’s civil war, recalling the loss of two biological brothers, cousins, uncles, and friends.
He recounted fleeing rebel attacks across Kailahun, Kono, Kenema, Kambia, and Freetown, witnessing deaths and atrocities along the way.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude for surviving the war unscathed, while paying tribute to those who lost their lives and those still living with physical scars.

He urged Sierra Leoneans to remember the lessons of the war and commit to resolving differences peacefully.
Umaru Napoleon Koroma concluded by praying for the souls of all who perished during the civil war, calling for lasting peace and unity across the nation.
