Kenema City Plaza came alive in the early hours of Sunday as Sierra Leone’s Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, joined residents to witness a live cultural performance by popular musician Salia Bakavodeh.

The visit formed part of the government’s efforts to promote peace, unity, and inclusive development through arts and culture. The event attracted community members, traditional leaders, youths, and entertainers from across the Eastern Region.
Speaking to the crowd, Dr. Sengeh stressed that national development goes beyond infrastructure to include social cohesion and entertainment. He praised the peaceful nature of the gathering, noting that it reflected the discipline and maturity of the people of Kenema.
“Development is also entertainment,” he said, adding that cultural activities play an important role in bringing people together and strengthening national unity. He assured participants of continued government support for cultural initiatives as part of the Big Five Game Changers agenda, particularly youth empowerment and social transformation.
Musician Salia Bakavodeh thanked the Chief Minister, the government, and the people of Kenema for their support, describing the event as a celebration of peace, culture, and togetherness. He reaffirmed his commitment to using music to promote unity and positive social change.
