Dr. Ibrahim Bangura has reaffirmed his commitment to Sierra Leone, declaring his readiness to play a major role in the country’s history despite the challenges involved.
Speaking at the Peace Alumni Party at the New Brookfields Hotel in Freetown, Dr. Bangura urged Sierra Leoneans to stand up for the country, particularly in the interest of future generations.
He stressed that citizens must remain committed to national development and collective responsibility.
“I am committed to Sierra Leone. I want to play a meaningful part in the history of this country, no matter how difficult it is,” DIB said.
The All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer aspirant for the 2028 presidential elections mentioned the need for improved living standards, noting that Sierra Leone should no longer be struggling with basic services such as electricity and healthcare.
According to him, providing essential services remains fundamental to national progress.

Dr. Ibrahim Bangura also encouraged sustained engagement and intellectual contribution to national discourse, announcing that two books authored by former students would be launched the following week.
It’s time
He called on Sierra Leoneans, especially academics and young people, to embrace writing as a tool for development and national reflection.
During the event, he paid tribute to his colleagues at the University, thanking them for their cooperation and support over the years, which he described as instrumental to his academic and professional journey.
Reflecting on the past year, Dr. Bangura acknowledged that 2025 had been challenging for the country but expressed optimism for the future.
He said Sierra Leoneans should pray and work toward a better and more prosperous nation in 2026.
The Peace Alumni Party brought together academics, professionals, and supporters to celebrate Dr. Bangura and promote unity and dialogue.
