Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara held a strategic meeting with FIFA President Gianni Infantino in Kinshasa ahead of the 47th CAF General Assembly.

The meeting focused on key areas of football development in Sierra Leone, including the construction of the new SLFA Headquarters, the FIFA Arena Project, and the Football for Schools initiative.
President Infantino commended President Babadi Kamara’s leadership and reaffirmed FIFA’s full support for the continued growth of football in Sierra Leone.

The high-level talks were attended by senior FIFA officials Mattias Grafström, Gelson Fernandes, and Kevin Lamour, alongside SLFA Vice President 1 Alie Badara Tarawallie and Acting General Secretary Mohamed Benson Bawoh.

The SLFA delegation is in Kinshasa to represent Sierra Leone at the 47th CAF General Assembly, a key event bringing together football leaders from across Africa to discuss governance, development, and competition strategies.
The strong presence of the Sierra Leone team shows the country’s ongoing commitment to the development of African football through active participation in both CAF and FIFA structures.
Leone Stars Host Burkina Faso Tomorrow
Sierra Leone’s Leone Stars are set to face Burkina Faso tomorrow, Wednesday, October 8th, at the Samuel K. Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia, in a must-win 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
With only two group-stage games left, this fixture is very important for Sierra Leone’s hopes of progressing. A win would see the Leone Stars leapfrog Burkina Faso into second place, thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker between the two teams.
Following the home clash, Sierra Leone will travel to Morocco for their final group match against Djibouti on Saturday, October 12th. To keep playoff hopes alive, the Leone Stars must secure back-to-back wins and hope Burkina Faso drops points against Ethiopia.
Head coach Mohamed Kallon remains optimistic and focused, urging his team to give their all in tomorrow’s decisive encounter.
Coach Kallon named a 25-man squad ahead of these qualifiers, blending experience and young talent as Sierra Leone battles to reach the World Cup playoffs.
