Justice Momoh-Jah Stevens Sent on Leave

The Judiciary of Sierra Leone has confirmed that Justice Alhaji Mohamed Momoh-Jah Stevens, a sitting Judge of the Court of Appeal, has been placed on administrative leave with immediate effect.

In a press release issued on Monday 29 September, 2925, the Judiciary stated that the decision was taken following widespread media reports and public commentary surrounding the judge, which it said could ‘potentially damage the image of the institution’.

The case has also been referred to the Judicial and Legal Service Commission (JLSC) for further review and any action the Commission may consider appropriate.

The development follows a series of online allegations by Edwina Hawa Jamiru, who claims to be pregnant for the judge and has accused him of neglect.

Justice Stevens has since filed a domestic violence complaint against Edwina, who was reportedly detained after failing to appear in court.

The Judiciary says it remains committed to accountability, due process, and upholding public trust in the justice system.
