SLPP Receives Courtesy Visit from Chinese Ambassador

On Tuesday, 10th March 2026, the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) received a courtesy visit from the Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the SLPP.

Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, National Chairman of the SLPP, welcomed the Chinese delegation and expressed appreciation for China’s previous invitation of a 15-member SLPP delegation to the CPC Leadership Academy in 2019.

During discussions, Sir Jimmy requested additional leadership training and technical support to enhance the capacity and skills of SLPP executives nationwide.

The Ambassador assured the party of China’s continued cooperation with the SLPP-led government under President Julius Maada Bio, pledging support for poverty alleviation and infrastructural development.

He also confirmed that the request for further training would be positively considered.

The meeting was held at SLPP headquarters in Freetown.
