SLPP Chairman Champions ‘Big Five’ Agenda

The National Chairman of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), Sir Jimmy Batilo Songa, has delivered his first official diaspora address since his election, speaking to members of the UK and Ireland Region at a well-attended general meeting in London.

In his keynote, Sir Jimmy conveyed greetings from President Julius Maada Bio and reaffirmed his full loyalty to the President, describing him as the sole leader of the SLPP. He stressed unity, discipline, and focus as the foundation for strengthening the party ahead of future elections.

Paying tribute to the SLPP’s founding fathers and fallen members of the UK & Ireland branch, the Chairman called for a minute of silence in their honour. He praised the region’s longstanding contributions, pointing out its pivotal role in championing President Bio’s political journey from opposition to victory in 2018.

Sir Jimmy urged members to put aside factionalism and remain committed to the “Big Five Game Changers” – Feed Salone, Human Capital Development, Youth Employment, Technology and Infrastructure Development, and Public Service Reform. He reminded members that the next three years must be about supporting governance and delivery, not flagbearer debates.

The Chairman also saluted the “old guards” who stood firm during difficult opposition years, while welcoming new members bringing fresh energy to the party. He assured the diaspora family of his commitment to fairness, humility, and inclusive leadership, stressing that SLPP has space for all but must be bound by loyalty and discipline.

Closing his remarks, Sir Jimmy called on members to continue strengthening the party’s structures, defend its record, and work towards securing an unprecedented third-term victory for the SLPP.

“Together, we will make SLPP stronger, more united, and more responsive to the aspirations of our people,” he ended.
