The Statistician-General of Sierra Leone, Andrew Bob Johnny, and the Director of the National Statistical System, Francis Tommy, are attending the 57th Session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in New York City.

The session, running from 3 to 6 March, brings together national statistical offices and institutions from around the world.
Key discussions focus on social and demographic statistics, data governance, AI readiness, environment and climate change statistics, and well-being measurement.
The Sierra Leone delegation is also meeting with international partners, including Esri, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

These engagements are expected to support preparations for Sierra Leone’s 2026 Population and Housing Census and strengthen national data and statistical initiatives.
