Sierra Leone Aquatics has secured a two-year international training scholarship for promising swimmer Moses Sahr Yongai under the Aqua Olympics Support Program (AOSP), approved by World Aquatics.
The scholarship will enable Yongai to relocate to Bahrain, where he will undergo intensive high-performance training through 2028.
The program is aimed at developing talented athletes from emerging federations by providing access to world-class coaching and competitive exposure.
Officials say the opportunity marks an important step in strengthening athlete development in Sierra Leone and reflects growing international recognition of the country’s swimming potential.

Yongai’s selection is being hailed as a major achievement for both the athlete and Sierra Leone Aquatics, highlighting ongoing efforts to create structured development pathways and international partnerships for local swimmers.
Members of the aquatics community have described the scholarship as a proud moment for the sport, expressing confidence that Yongai will represent Sierra Leone strongly in future international competitions.
The nation now looks forward to following his progress as he begins the two-year training program abroad.
