The Director General of the National Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NPRA), Brima Baluwa Koroma, is currently attending the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) 2025 in Yokohama, Japan.

The high-level gathering, which officially opened on Wednesday under the leadership of H.E. Ishiba Shigeru, Prime Minister of Japan, brings together African Heads of State, government officials, private sector leaders, and development partners to deepen Japan–Africa cooperation.

This year’s conference, themed “Co-creating Innovative Solutions for Sustainable Development,” is being co-chaired by Japan and Angola. Delegations from across Africa, including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Algeria, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Guinea, Senegal, Lesotho, Botswana, and several others, are participating.

As part of the program, Mr. Koroma has been invited to speak at the Investment Panel today, Friday, 22nd August 2025, at the Westin Yokohama Hotel. He will present opportunities in Sierra Leone’s petroleum downstream sector, with a focus on attracting foreign direct investment to boost energy security and drive sustainable economic growth.

His participation underscores NPRA’s commitment to positioning Sierra Leone as an emerging hub for petroleum investments in Africa.
