Vice Chancellor and Principal of the University, Professor Aiah Lebbie, has issued a firm directive ending the long-standing practice of appointing Class Representatives across all campuses.

The decision was announced during a meeting of the Executive Committee of Senate held on October 24, 2025, where Professor Lebbie declared that lecturers are strictly forbidden from appointing students to serve in this role or from delegating any formal academic duties to them.
“Effective immediately, the practice of appointing Class Representatives is hereby discontinued,” Professor Lebbie stated, charging Deans of Faculties to monitor and ensure full compliance across all colleges.
The directive follows serious complaints and reports received by University management concerning misconduct by some class representatives, including allegations of extortion, corruption, intimidation, and exploitation of students.
In a move to uphold the University’s core values of transparency, fairness, and academic integrity, the administration has resolved that all lecturers and faculty members must cease the use of class representatives with immediate effect.
