The Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Alpha Sesay, visited Makeni City on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, to inform the public about the new Criminal Procedure Act 2024, the ongoing Constitutional Review, and justice sector reforms.

Speaking at Unimak Hall, Sesay explained that the new Criminal Procedure Act replaces outdated laws and introduces faster, fairer trials to improve justice delivery across Sierra Leone, including in provincial areas.
He assured citizens that recent serious crimes, such as robbery in Bo and the murder of a Reverend Father in Kenema, will be handled under the new law to ensure swift justice.
The AG also highlighted the long-running Constitutional Review Process, which has involved extensive public consultations since 1999.

He emphasized that the revised Constitution will protect fundamental rights, improve governance, and uphold key policies like free quality education.
The Attorney General confirmed that the review is ongoing, with a new governance chapter being drafted, and that the final document will be presented to Parliament and the people for approval.
He promised continued public engagement to ensure citizens’ voices are heard throughout the process.
