The Minister of Sports, Augusta James-Teima, last week, led a high-level delegation on a partial inspection of sports and auxiliary facilities earmarked for handover to the Government of Sierra Leone in the near future.

The inspection team comprised senior officials from the Ministry of Sports, the National Sports Authority (NSA) led by Deputy Executive Director Dr. Abdul Rahman Swarray, Max Mohamed Kosia from the Ministry of Works and Public Assets, members of the Chinese technical team headed by Boson, and Stadium Management staff led by Alfred Tucker.

Facilities inspected during the exercise included the practice field, basketball court, volleyball court, tennis court, powerhouse, hostel, and swimming pool.

The visit formed part of government efforts to ensure that all infrastructure meets required standards ahead of the final handover.

At the conclusion of the inspection, the Minister and her team identified several areas requiring attention and appealed to the Chinese technical team to carry out immediate remedial works before the formal transfer of the facilities to government authorities.

Responding to the concerns raised, Mr Boson assured the Minister that all detected faults would be promptly addressed and rectified ahead of the final handover.

The inspection underscores the Ministry’s commitment to safeguarding public investments and ensuring that sports infrastructure delivered to the nation is functional, safe, and fit for purpose.
