Miatta Civic Center Now Under Information Ministry

The Ministry of Works and Public Assets has officially handed over the Miatta Civic Center to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education (MoICE). The ceremony took place on Friday, 24th October 2025, in the meeting room of the facility.

In his opening statement, Patrick Kawa, Assistant to the Secretary to the President, described the handover process as smooth and commended both ministries for their collaboration and commitment in finalizing the transition documents. He emphasized the need for continued partnership between the two institutions in managing the facility effectively.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works and Public Assets, Dr. Joe Fayiah Nyuma, expressed satisfaction that his ministry had fulfilled the directive of His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada Bio. He thanked both ministries for their patience and also appreciated Mr. Kawa for his mediatory role in ensuring a successful handover. Dr. Nyuma assured that the Ministry of Works remains open for future technical collaboration with MoICE.

Receiving the facility, the Permanent Secretary of MoICE, Andrew Kamara, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Works for their cooperation and commitment throughout the process. He said the Ministry of Information and Civic Education was pleased to finally conclude the transfer and pledged to continue engaging the Ministry of Works on issues relating to the facility’s management and maintenance.

The brief but significant ceremony climaxed with the symbolic handing over of keys and documents to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, marking the official transfer of the Miatta Civic Center.
